Esther

Esther has the ingredients of a great story: romance, palace intrigue, suspense, and the unexpected turns in the life of a poor foster child who becomes a queen. On the surface, the book explains how a Jewish queen of Persia named Esther saved her people from genocide. The real story, however, is a dramatic example of God's hand at work shaping world events to realize His will.  In the case of Esther, God's objective was to preserve the Jewish nation despite the evil designs of powerful enemies.
